How we've helped clients master their data
Arteriors: How a Luxury Brand Replaced Their PLM and Transformed Product Operations
Arteriors needed to replace a costly PLM, connect to Magento, and automate scale-image product sheets no other PIM could deliver. Now product creation through to marketing runs through one system.
Arteriors: How a Luxury Brand Replaced Their PLM and Transformed Product Operations
π The Problem
Arteriors is a global luxury brand β premium lighting, furniture, wall dΓ©cor and accessories, crafted across 70 artisanal factories in over a dozen countries and sold in 65+ markets worldwide. They introduce hundreds of new products every season. That's a serious amount of product data.
When they came to us, they were fighting on multiple fronts:
π Data scattered across systems. Product information lived in different places depending on who needed it. No single source of truth. The usual story β but at Arteriors' scale, the consequences were amplified.
π₯οΈ Magento updates were manual and painful. Getting product data onto their e-commerce platform meant manual entry and constant re-checking. For a brand launching hundreds of products per season, this was unsustainable.
π§ A PLM system that wasn't working. Arteriors had a dedicated Product Lifecycle Management system, but it was clunky, difficult to use, and expensive. Marketing couldn't see what was happening in PLM β product development and marketing were completely siloed. They wanted to know: could a PIM take over PLM responsibilities?
π A visualisation challenge nobody else could solve. Arteriors wanted to generate product summary sheets automatically β with a scale image showing the product drawing next to a human figure, so customers and designers could instantly gauge size. They'd asked other PIM vendors. Nobody could do it.
π οΈ What We Did
β Solved the scale-image challenge first. This was the test. Arteriors needed automated product sheets with scale drawings β product next to a human silhouette for instant size reference. We built it using an Agent Task within a week, ready for their next demo. Fully automated, pulling dimensions directly from the product data. No manual design work required.
β Replaced their PLM. We created workflows within OneTimePIM that replicated and improved upon what their PLM was doing β tracking product development stages, managing approvals, monitoring changes. Agent Tasks handle the monitoring, flagging changes and keeping the process moving. Arteriors cancelled their PLM subscription. The PIM cost significantly less.
β Connected to Magento. Product data now flows from OneTimePIM directly into their Magento store. Updates, new products, attribute changes β all pushed through without manual re-entry.
β Centralised digital assets. Product images, lifestyle photography, datasheets, technical drawings β all managed within OneTimePIM's DAM and linked to the correct products. For a brand where visual presentation is everything, having assets properly organised and accessible is non-negotiable.
β Automated datasheet and tear sheet generation. Product summary sheets, tear sheets for sales teams and designers β all generated directly from the PIM data. Consistent branding, always current, no design bottleneck.
π The Results
π Product creation to marketing β one smooth operation. Before OneTimePIM, product development happened in the PLM and marketing worked separately. The two worlds rarely connected cleanly. Now the entire journey β from initial product data through development workflows to marketing-ready assets β runs through a single system. No more silos.
π° PLM subscription cancelled. The PIM replaced the PLM at a fraction of the cost, while actually being easier to use and more accessible to the wider team β including marketing, who'd been locked out of the PLM entirely.
π Scale visualisation β automated. The product-next-to-human scale sheets that no other PIM vendor could deliver are now generated automatically. What was once a manual design task is now a button press.
β‘ Magento updates without the pain. Product data flows to the e-commerce platform directly from the PIM. Manual entry eliminated. Accuracy improved. Launch speed increased.
π The Pattern
Arteriors' story highlights something we see increasingly: companies paying for separate PLM and PIM systems when a well-configured PIM can handle both.
The common thread:
- PLM systems that are expensive, clunky, and inaccessible to non-technical teams
- Marketing and product development working in silos because their tools don't connect
- Visualisation and automation requirements that off-the-shelf systems can't handle
- E-commerce platforms being manually updated because nothing talks to anything else
The combination of flexible workflows, Agent Tasks for custom automation, and a system that's actually pleasant to use means the PIM becomes the single operational hub β not just a data warehouse.
Sometimes the right answer isn't adding another system. It's making one system do more.
